Founded in 1971, the St. Patrick's Parade of Metairie has been taking to the streets of Old Metairie for over the past fifty years, in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Over 100,000 people crammed into downtown for the 68th St. Patrick's Day parade on March 15th, 2009.
