all in all its a amazing buy. So I took off the leather and used red nylon for the grip, and used gorilla glue to fix the loose pommel. I tested it on branches outside that needed trimming, and the hardest thing is the weight of this thing. If you intend to use this to try to even cut a piece of 2 by 4 it will chip, break, and the handle will come lose and sometimes come off. It is well made, dense, and very heavy. I picture a rat tail as being very narrow as on a metal file. Then the bottom of the handle started shifting in place. At worst, this sword was a very enjoyable project for those who want a sword "kit". I bought two of these beasts. The handle features a leather wrapped grip and is framed by the distinctive guard and pommel. The sword handle is large enough to be used two handed. Tough, Solid Steel Hardware. This sword is heavier than most of my other swords, now we know why the Spartans were all so ripped. It also is too long for and normal use. Very pleased. Not a problem with the leather, and it's probably fixable with some work, just wasn't looking for a DIY project right now. It is a little top heavy but you get used to holding it. It would not be easy for someone to recover from a full slash or thrust of these.

Cant tell you about "quality" of the metal as it will be months before im strong enough to use them for the cardio and strength training I bought them for. Its got a good weight and the tip is nice and solid. Not in length but in weight width and appearance. The large spring wont lock very well when it first pops out, but a second swing gets it locked. Quality made, very sharp and sturdy, and it looks AMAZING. Very pleased. It's a massive piece of metal that has a great look and feel. 1. I got it the day it shipped out. Seems fairly sharp though I have not really inspected it (got it right before class) and overall the quality is very good, the handle is somewhat short making it somewhat unbalanced but since the blade is so giant and thick I can let that one slide. I also bought the scabbard for it which I also recommend/suggest. The 2nd issue I have is that there is no scabbard for it, which would have been nice to help protect it. It's funny it's modeled after the spartan swords in 300 but they have a picture of Roman soldiers on the box lol. It comes factory pre-oiled, but if you slightly dampen a cloth or a paper towel, you can take the oil right off! Not only did the leather wrap come off after just playing with it for a few minutes, but then I noticed that the entire handle was coming loose. It's still pretty sturdy.
